FAQs

What’s the meaning behind the name, et al. Scholars?

With “et al,” the unnamed others in a citation, I center scholars who feel like outsiders. I understand outsider perspectives as strengths, not weaknesses. And I work to help more scholars find a seat at the table—or, at least, build their own table to sit at.

Who are your typical clients?

I work with scholars at all stages of their careers, from PhD students to full professors to independent scholars. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ as well as neurodivergent scholars. I also speak Spanish; as a bilingual, I’m experienced at editing materials by authors whose first language is one other than English.

What institutions do your clients work at or attend?

I have worked with scholars across the US and beyond. I work with independent scholars as well as scholars from liberal arts colleges, and community colleges, and research universities. I am at ease with the unique needs of scholars at these diverse institutions. See here for a list of the institutions where my clients have studied or worked.

What disciplines are you clients in?

I serve clients in the humanities, interdisciplines, and qualitative social sciences—including Africana studies; American studies; art history; comparative literature; ethnic studies; gender & sexuality studies; history; Latin American & Caribbean studies; political science; Romance languages and literatures; and South & Southeast Asian studies.

What if I don’t know what type of editing or coaching I need?
