FAQs
What’s the meaning behind the name, et al. Scholars?
With “et al,” the unnamed others in a citation, I center scholars who feel like outsiders. I understand outsider perspectives as strengths, not weaknesses. And I work to help more scholars find a seat at the table—or, at least, build their own table to sit at.
Who are your typical clients?
I work with scholars at all stages of their careers, from PhD students to full professors to independent scholars. Many of my clients are historians. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ as well as neurodivergent scholars. I also speak Spanish; as a bilingual, I’m experienced at editing materials by authors whose first language is one other than English.
What institutions do your clients work at or attend?
I have worked with scholars across the US and beyond. I work with independent scholars as well as scholars from liberal arts colleges, community colleges, and research universities. I am at ease with the unique needs of scholars at these diverse institutions. See here for a list of the institutions where my clients have studied or worked.
Where have your clients published?
My book clients have published or are under contract with Ohio State University Press, Oxford University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Princeton University Press, SUNY Press, University of North Carolina Press, University of Pennsylvania Press, Vanderbilt University Press, etc., Other clients have published in a range of journals in the humanities and humanistic social sciences.
What disciplines are you clients in?
I serve clients in the humanities, interdisciplines, and qualitative social sciences—including Africana studies; American studies; art history; comparative literature; ethnic studies; gender & sexuality studies; history; Latin American & Caribbean studies; political science; Romance languages and literatures; and South & Southeast Asian studies.
